So earlier today at CES2014 it was announced that Sony had sold over 4.2 Million PS4 sales leaving Xbox one roughly a million sales behind. With the PS4 having been released on the 15th of November of last year the total sales amounts to roughly 78,000 PS4 sales per calendar day.
This figure is absolutely astonishing and if we use the release day price of the PS4 that amounts to roughly $31 million in revenue per day.
So what could you buy with $31 million per day? Bear in mind that this is the pre-expenses figure and that Sony are probably not getting anywhere close to $31 million a day in profit from PS4 sales alone.
What You Could Buy Every Day:
23 Rolls of Golden 3-ply Toilet Paper
A staggering 124 3kg gold shirts.
23 solid gold 11lb stools, because you can never have enough stools!
1 x The Codex Leicester of Leondardo Da Vinci
The Overall Numbers:
For the purpose of this calculation I’m just going to use the base, release-day figure of $399 for every PS4 sale
4.2 Million PS4 Sales * $399 =
over 1,000 Hennessey Venom GTs
Over 100 No.5 Jackson Pollocks
or 2 Eclipse Super Yachts
That’s right that’s almost $1.7 billion in revenue over the past 54 days alone. That is an absolutely staggering amount to me and I don’t even have the slightest inclination of what I could possibly do with that money should I have been given it.
